Overview

ASQ:SE2 How To's is a 3 part module series that will review what social emotional development and why it is important. This will also help you understand the purpose of the ASQ:SE2 and how to utilize the observation form. 


Objective

1.2 a. Understands developmental sequences and milestones

1.2 c. Uses observation and assessment processes to understand children's strengths, interests, and the skills they are working to master 

1.2 j. Applies knowledge of typical child development, including social and emotional development, to identify early indicators of possible developmental delays or risks to development

3.1 i. Uses assessment practices that are relevant to the language and developmental needs of individual children, as shown through both verbal and nonverbal behaviors 

3.2 a. Knows developmentally appropriate assessment methods 

3.2i. Shares specific assessment procedures with families  

3.3c. Values family input in the assessment process 

3.4b. Reports developmental accomplishments, as well as areas for developmental growth

4.3a. Provides diverse and developmentally appropriate materials to promote social interaction

ASQ:SE 2 How To's Module 1 will review what the ASQ:SE 2 entails and what social emotional development is and why it is important. We will review why screening social emotional development is important and what challenges we may face in assessing social emotional development.
