Overview

This one hour preschool session will explore the importance of recognizing personal core values and aligning them to the core values NAEYC has develop for the field of early childhood care and education. After becoming more aware of personal core values, participant will be able to recognize how their values influence their teaching style and daily interactions with children.

Objective

6. Professionalism and Leadership
6.1 Upholds all relevant ethical standards and professional guidelines
e. Shows sensitivity relating to individual preferences and/or cultural beliefs
f. Knows and practices the ethical responsibilities in the applicable code of ethical conduct (i.e., NAEYC, NASW, CEC/DEC) and recognizes the difference between ethics and personal values

6.3 Displays professionalism in practice
d. Chooses to work in settings that are aligned with one’s own philosophy related to children and families
