Combating Nature Deficit Disorder in the Early Childhood Classroom

Overview
This face-to-face training, presented by MountainHeart, is for early childhood educators an childcare providers. This one session course will inform providers about Nature Deficit Disorder, the negative impacts of NDD on children, the benefits of including nature in a child’s life, and how to include more nature-based play and activities in the early childhood classroom that fits the provider’s time, space, and financial constraints. Participants will develop and carry out a plan to include more nature-based play in their space and schedule.

This course includes 0.5 hours of TA after the 2 hour session as a proof of learning/ follow up visit. This TA can be scheduled at your convenience. 
Objective
1.6 Supports Children's Gross & Fine Motor Development

1.6.c. Encourages indoor and outdoor environments that allow children to move freely
1.6.d. Ensures children spend time each day in active gross motor play, recognizing outdoors as the preferred
environment

5.6.d. Understands the importance of daily outdoor play, as weather permits
