Overview
To promote the optimal growth and development of infants and toddler, caregivers need to be able to identify and recognize the various components of a quality program. ITERS-3 is the Third Edition of the Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale, which is a tool that identifies key elements that can hep caregivers assess what areas they are thriving in and what they can do to reach a higher level of quality. This training will introduce ITERS-3, compare the difference from previous versions, educate caregivers on how to use the tool and discuss the benefits of using it in classrooms.
Objective
1.1 d. Creates an environment and daily schedule that encourages trust and social interaction with other children and adults

4.1 d. Uses a variety of strategies for building relationships such as engaging in meaningful and extended conversations, respecting each child’s uniqueness, using children’s names, being at children’s eye level, and smiling at children.

4.1 j. Responds and adapts to each child, accommodating his/her temperament, personality, strengths, interests, and development pattern.

4.2 a. Plans, implements, and adapts a supportive learning environment that promotes children’s safety, positive interactions, and behaviors.

4.2 d. Makes sure expectations for routines and tasks are clear and purposeful for all children.

4.2 n. Demonstrates knowledge and applies current theories and research on environmental design.

4.4 d. Organizes and places materials within children’s reach to promote engagement and learning.

4.4 f. Provides a variety of developmentally appropriate books, pictures, and print materials.
