Overview
This face-to-face course will cover the annual training requirements of the Child and Adult Care Food Program for child care centers. Civil rights compliance (goals, discrimination examples, and required non-discrimination language) and food handling components(food safety, meal components, meal patterns, meal-service methods, and meal counts) will be addressed during the workshop. Participants will use their knowledge of the CACFP meal patterns to help families identify nutritious meal options for their child while accommodating the families /child's special needs, preferences and what they practice at home.  
Objective
2.2 Communicates regularly, respectfully, and effectively with families 
2.2 c. Provides clear and complete information in a manner that matches the family’s learning style, preferred language, level of understanding, and preferred means of communication
2.2 d. Communicates regularly with families to share the accomplishments of the child, answer questions, and discuss activities and progress
5.5 Understands the importance of good nutrition and food safety to support healthy growth in children and families
5.5 b. Practices appropriate hand washing and food handling techniques
5.5 c. Matches nutritional practices to the child’s developmental stage and special dietary needs including health conditions, and cultural and religious dietary restrictions
