Overview
This online training reviews all of the key content areas required annually by USDA for participation in federal reimbursement from a Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).  This training is specific to family child care homes. These areas include but are not limited to:  CACFP meal pattern requirements, accurate meal counts and attendance records, enrollment forms, civil rights, review expectations in the family child care home, claim and reimbursement process, annual appeal rights, program changes, and corrective action/seriously deficient process.
Objective
5.5 a. Promotes and models healthy nutritional practices
5.5 c. Matches nutritional practices to the child’s developmental stage and special dietary needs including health conditions, and cultural and religious dietary restrictions
5.5 d. Shares information on the advantages of breastfeeding and provides support for breastfeeding
5.5 e. Shares information on nutritional needs and appropriate feeding of infants and children
5.5 f. Understands that food is not to be used as a punishment or reward
5.5 g. Encourages self-regulation by helping early childhood professionals and children recognize fullness cues and responding appropriately
5.5 h. Facilitates opportunities for children to experience new tastes, textures, and cultural foods
5.5 i. Encourages a relaxed, positive, and social atmosphere during meals
5.5 k. Engages children and families in discussion about foods that help them grow and stay healthy, and how to choose snacks and meals wisely
5.5 l. Links families to community resources to address feeding concerns, as appropriate
