Overview
As a family is beginning their journey with WV Birth to Three and annually, the team gathers information to support the determination of eligibility. This process involves understanding the WV Birth to Three procedures for evaluation/assessment and policies defining eligibility criteria. Join us for a review best practices for these activities and a question and answer opportunity for practitioners and service coordinators.
Objective
WV Early Childhood Core Knowledge and Competencies 1.2.n. Contributes to writing, reviewing and/or implementing Individualized Family Service Plans/Individual Education Programs, when appropriate 3.4.a. Shares assessment results in a sensitive manner that is understandable for families 3.6.c. Follows established timelines for beginning and completing the assessment process, reporting, and meeting with families 3.6.d. Reviews information about a child’s birth and developmental history, and other sources, before beginning formal evaluation 3.6.e. Requests families share the concerns, hopes and developmental goes they have for their children before creating an IFSP or IEP 3.6.f. Includes children’s developmental accomplishments, as well as areas for developmental growth 6.1.c.
